Kim D'Eon

Kim is an award-winning reporter and TV host. She is currently enjoying her sixth season on Entertainment Tonight Canada, interviewing the biggest celebrities and most interesting artists of our time. When not on the ET Canada set in Toronto, Kim spends a lot of time traveling around the world to places like Los Angeles, New York, Belgium and Rio De Janeiro. 

These experiences are in stark contrast to her recent trip to Africa in 2010. While there, Kim had an awe-inspiring time meeting people in Swaziland, South Africa and Kenya. She also witnessed, first-hand, the poverty and inequity many people face in some of the poorest countries in the world. This life-changing adventure solidified Kim's need to help make a change, especially around gender empowerment issues. 

Our talented Ambassador of Change shares in our commitment to empower women and girls in the fight against global poverty. Her support is invaluable in helping CARE Canada extend our reach and engage even more Canadians to learn about the issues and get involved in the global movement.

From the time I was small, I've been told to keep my dreams alive and reach for the stars and I've had the luxury of always believing I can. As a young girl, I could never imagine being denied food, an education or basic human rights because of my gender. I could never imagine being denied hope. Yet, this is the awful reality for so many people around the world; particularly, girls and women.

It is a dream of mine that the injustice women face globally can be eliminated. I believe that monumental change can be accomplished by coming together to shine a light in the darkest corners. I am honoured to join forces with CARE as an Ambassador of Change to help with this global charge. Together, we can help girls and women discover their own power so they can hope, dream and accomplish. Empowerment can mean many things to many people, but its outcome elevates us all.
