Week of Power
The women of Quebec launch the WEEK OF POWER – March 5-9, 2012
The first of its kind in Canada, CARE Canada's I Am Powerful Committee is a group of empowered women in Quebec. Its purpose is to raise awareness regarding the most vulnerable women in the world by tapping into the committee's network of influential resources.
With this in mind, the WEEK OF POWER is being launched in early March, to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8. The week will feature a series of prominent events with various speakers - powerful women - from all over Quebec, including Ms. Louise Fréchette, former Deputy-Secretary General of the UN, current Distinguished Fellow of the Centre for International Governance Innovation, and Chairman of the Board of Directors for CARE.
The week will culminate with a luncheon in the company of a woman who has had an incredible journey: Céline Galipeau. She has been the head of the Téléjournal 22 hrs at Radio-Canada since 2009. She started her career as a reporter in 1984. Over the years, she has held positions in Toronto, London, Paris, Moscow and Beijing. She was also reporter in Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan.
