Careers

© CARECARE Canada employs staff in the field and within Canada to support programs overseas. The international staff CARE hires, almost without exception, are individuals with previous work experience in developing countries or nations in transition.

Employment opportunities are advertised through Careers United, a website that specializes in recruitment for international development agencies. A database maintains CVs from individuals with relevant international work experience.

We encourage you to register your resume during this visit to ensure you are considered for openings over the next year. Once you've applied to a specific position, you will receive an email confirming receipt. The database is scanned daily and you will be contacted if your skills and experience complement a position. Please update your information regularly.

CARE does not accept applications directly from candidates. Please visit www.careersunited.org for more information.

About CARE Canada employment

CARE Canada employs 75-100 international staff annually to support programs overseas. Contracts vary in length and are dependent on project activity, duration and funding. International staff manage or work on projects, administer field office functions, provide technical advice (in areas such as water/sanitation, small enterprise development, agriculture, health) and support emergency humanitarian assistance programs.

CARE Canada's head office is located in Ottawa. Staff in Ottawa support international programs in financial administration, human resources management, program support and technical assistance, program management and marketing/fundraising.

CARE Canada does not have an overseas volunteer program. However, an international assignment as a volunteer is an excellent way to begin a career in international development or humanitarian assistance. Many CARE employees developed their skills and acquired that critical "first international work experience" as a volunteer or intern.
Information about other organizations offering volunteer placements is available from the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC).
