The Giving Season

By Mara O'Brien James, President and CEO (Interim), CARE Canada

And here we are already.

After waking up under our first fresh morning blanket of snow last week and icing my lungs with the first deep clear breaths of winter, I am reminded that the giving season is right around the corner.

As the neighbourhood children turn into walking bundles of scarves and snowpants, the warmth creeps in everywhere else too. Kids draw holiday cards for their grandparents, colleagues bring nibbles to share in the office, entire communities light up with the warm glow of the season.

Now is the time of year that I ponder a question that likely comes to your mind too: What warmth and joy will I spread this holiday?

Your email and mail boxes are likely already overflowing with flyers  and promos with blinking discount banners that scream EXCLUSIVE SNEAK PEEK AT OUR BLACK FRIDAY SALES! CYBER MONDAY SALES ARRIVE EARLY! But if you're looking for something a bit more meaningful to launch your holiday season, hold on until Giving Tuesday.

Landing this year on Tuesday, December 3rd, Giving Tuesday is a day that's dedicated to giving back. For us at CARE Canada, that means a day where we can all come together to do even more good.

We will be sharing stories, videos and tons of ideas on how you can do good this holiday season across our website and social media channels right up until the big day.

And if you love to spread the warmth of the season, we'll have a special announcement just for you next week. Watch your email inbox (sign up for our updates if you haven't already) to get in on the best way yet to celebrate the season of giving.
