CARE Canada statement: CARE Canada welcomes Emrul Hasan as new Vice President, Global Programs

OTTAWA, JANUARY 6, 2023 – CARE Canada is thrilled to announce the appointment of the newest member of our impressive Senior Leadership Team, Emrul Hasan.

A seasoned executive with extensive experience in International Development and the Humanitarian sector, Emrul joins CARE Canada as our Vice President, Global Programs.

Emrul emerged through a rigorous hiring process as the preeminent leader to support our team in achieving the aspirations set forth in our Strategic Plan,” says Barbara Grantham, CARE Canada President and CEO. “The Board and Staff are delighted to welcome an expert leader whose qualifications, experience and calibre of excellence are certain to inspire and guide our already outstanding programs to even greater impact in the world.”

Emrul brings a wealth of sector-based experience to his new role. Prior to leading the Citizenship and Sustainability practice for Hill + Knowlton’s Corporate Advisory arm, Emrul held senior leadership roles in peer organizations—most recently as Vice President, Program Effectiveness and Quality at Plan International Canada—as well as positions with Plan International Bangladesh and within the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and UNDP-UNCDF.

Emrul is an innovative, highly capable leader who is deeply committed and connected to CARE Canada’s core focus on equality for women and girls. In addition to his program expertise, he is an experienced change manager and innovator, and has helped cultivate multi-sectoral partnerships and alliances for programs and initiatives nationally and globally.

Emrul’s alignment with and enthusiasm for our plans to inspire further investment in our mission and vision will undeniably increase CARE Canada’s impact around the world.
