The pandemic has worsened the situation for many of the women in the Djekafo VSLA in Ségou. When the crisis broke out, the CARE team’s priority was how to support the women and girls that could be affected. While other NGOs were preparing to buy and to import masks, CARE (through the GEWEP Project) was able to initiate the manufacturing of masks locally. The existing centres were put to use and professional tailors have been recruited by CARE to train women and girls in manufacturing the masks.
