Our projects

Women taking part in the WESE (Women’s Empowerment through Sustainable Entrepreneurship) project in Morroco, supported by the Government of Canada. Barbara Grantham/CARE

Alongside our many incredible partners, donors, and project participants, we’re working hard to ensure our Canadian-funded projects are wide-reaching and their impact lasts for generations. Our projects:

  • Focus on specific marginalized groups, especially women and girls
  • Address the underlying causes of poverty
  • Involve advocacy and address governance
  • Involve long-term engagement
  • Measure impact

We work alongside communities around the world to break down barriers that prevent women and girls from reaching their full potential and achieving their dreams. Very often our staff are from the countries they are working in, and we proudly partner with many local groups and organizations who know best what their communities need.

While our projects may be generally focused on a particular area such as health or livelihood, many of our projects are cross-cutting and touch on everything we do at CARE. Safety is part of every project, humanitarian projects often also include more long-term initiatives related to health and livelihoods, etc.
