It's a new year! A time for fresh starts, reflection and inspiration for the year to come. Of course, new year's resolutions are notoriously broken. So we're giving you three small, easily-achieved ways that you can be the best person you can be in this world.
1) No one is perfect - start small!
Give yourself a break! Some days will be better than others. The important thing is to look at each new day as an opportunity to do better than the day before. If you are struggling, pick small positive things to do in a day that require minimal planning and effort. Hold the door open for someone, pay for the coffee of the person behind you in line, give someone who's having a bad day a nice compliment. Any of these small actions has the power to influence the people around you to pay it forward and continue to grow.
2) Give back
Most of us have spent the last few weeks of December shopping and giving gifts. The new year is the time to set aside tangible presents and start looking at giving back. With the rush of the holiday season over and a little more time to breathe - take an hour each week or each month to do something for your community. Whether it's volunteering at the local animal shelter, planning a food drive or going through your closet and donating the clothes you don't wear anymore. Short on time? Make a donation! Any amount makes a difference and it takes less than five minutes!
3) Spread positivity
This may seem small but it can have the strongest impact! You have the power to change the world if you just look at it in a different way. It can be as simple as smiling at a stranger or a colleague, or sharing positive news stories on social media or just looking at the bright side when something doesn't go your way. Positivity is infectious and soon you will see the people around you living in a more positive light.
