A ripple of change felt for generations

We’ve seen what women and girls can achieve when they have access to the right education, tools and training. By remembering CARE Canada in your will, you will give women and girls the confidence to lead their communities. It’s your opportunity to break the cycle of poverty for generations to come.

Your gift to CARE will bring people together, promote women’s rights and tackle inequality in developing countries. You’ll empower women and girls to take ownership of their health. You’ll teach them how to tend to their crops and protect them from droughts and floods. Your gift will show them how to manage finances, and gain respect as a partner in the household.

You’ll ensure that women have what they need in emergencies, and are protected from sexual violence in times of chaos.

Your gift, no matter the size, will pave the way for the next generation of girls who will learn from the women before them. A gift in your will can tackle hunger, poverty and inequality in the years to come to build a better world for every human being.

How to leave a gift in your will

If you’ve chosen to remember CARE Canada with a gift in your will, here’s the important information your lawyer or other professional advisors may ask for:

Legal name: CARE Canada
Charitable ID: 11883 8333 RR0001

Sample Codicil Language

A codicil is a legal clause that can be used to make changes to an existing will, without recreating the entire document. It’s a useful tool for adding a gift to a will that has already been drafted. The exact language will be different depending on the type of gift you choose to make.

Residual Gift: This giving option means that you would give to CARE Canada a percentage of everything you own, less any debts. This option may work best for you if you’re unsure of the total size of your estate.

Sample codicil: “I give to CARE Canada [insert value] per cent of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate for its general purposes.”

Fixed Sum Gift: Also known as a cash gift, this option involves making a gift of a specific dollar amount in your will.

Sample codicil: “I give to CARE Canada the sum of $______ to be used for its general purposes.” Legal Name: CARE Canada Charitable Registration Number: 11883 8333 RR0001 Address: 9 Gurdwara Road, Suite 200, Ottawa, Ontario K2E 7X6
